Auburn Business Incubator
In May 2011, under contract with Auburn University, the Auburn Research and Technology Foundation established a
full-service, mixed-use business incubator with the overall mission of facilitating the commercialization of
university and community derived technologies and promoting economic development by the establishment of small
businesses, creating jobs, fostering entrepreneurialism, generating tax revenues, and attracting investment dollars.
Through its research enterprise, Auburn University is a source for innovation by faculty and students that can be
the basis for start-up businesses. Although not limited to university-initiated start-up companies, the incubator
will provide a full range of business services to facilitate their success. The incubator can assist in the
formation of start-up companies with the aim of assisting entrepreneurs in creating jobs and sparking economic growth.
The first phase of the incubator is located in approximately 4,400 square feet in Building 570 in the Auburn Research
Park with subsequent phases to follow as the demand grows and facilities become available.
As the incubator matures, it will provide a network of support services tailored to the needs of the tenant start-up
and early stage companies. These services may include, but not be limited, to cost effective space and flexible leases,
networking opportunities, shared business services and equipment, assistance in accessing investment and grant funds,
management assistance, and generating an integrated network of entrepreneurs in the Auburn-Opelika and regional
communities. The incubator will work closely with the local Angel Network to assist incubator clients to gain investments.
